The Priory Schedule

Reading Buddhist Priory is one of several small  temples of the Order in Britain. A senior priest is resident there for most of the year and it is always possible to have an introduction to the practice either from the priest or one of the senior lay members.

Your first visit:People new to the Priory should arrange to come along on a Tuesday evening usually monthly ( see events page) before attending any other sessions or phone to arrange a time. 

Tuesday Evenings 7.30pm - 9.30pm: Meditation instruction and an introduction to the practice is offered. Please wear loose clothing for meditation.

Wednesday Evenings 7.30pm - 9.45pm: Midday service and meditation followed by tea and a talk or discussion on the practice.

Friday Evenings 7.30pm - 9.45pm: Midday service and meditation followed by tea and a talk or discussion on the practice.

Evenings between Tuesday & Saturday: If you cannot come to sitting at 7.30 you are welcome to come for the 8.15 sit. Please ring the door bell only between 8.10 and 8.15pm.

Sunday Mornings: 9.15am Meditation, 10.00am Meditation, 10.45am Morning Service. People may join at any point.  Tea and questions or talk afterwards.

Saturday Retreat and Festival Days: Meditation sittings start at 10.00am. Ceremony at 11.00am. Please arrive in good time and bring vegetarian food to share if you wish to stay for lunch. Day ends at 4.00pm. 

Morning schedule Tuesday - Saturday: 7.15am Meditation &  8.00 short Morning Service finishing by 8.40am. People who have had an introduction to the practice are welcome to join in on any of these days.
