Going to the Conclave

Tomorrow I fly to the US to attend the ten-yearly Rules Conclave of our Order, being held this time at Shasta Abbey in northern California. I'm working my way through my list of last-minute things to do, so will keep this brief.

All the usual events at the Priory will continue whilst I am away. And of course there is the decorating project in the common room. We have a spare room upstairs which can be used as a common room during the decorating.

The purpose of the Conclave is to review the rules of the Order, ratifying any changes that have been made since the Conclave ten years ago and looking at any further changes that are proposed. As many monks as possible, plus some lay ministers, will be attending, so it is also an opportunity to discuss any matters, rule-related or not, that are of interest or concern to us. And it is just good to meet each other. There will be some time set aside for relaxing together and enjoying the California sunshine - I think it is around 30c there at the moment!

I probably won't put much up in the way of news whilst I am away, though I will if I can. I return in early October. Various people will be looking after the Priory whilst I am away - thank you all in advance.
